As women grow older, their breasts are greatly affective, though not in a positive way. Luckily, there is a type of cosmetic surgery in order to fix the appearance of women’s breasts. This surgery is referred to as breast lifting. As time goes on, due to factors such as being pregnant, breast feeding, and so on, the skin of the breasts will not be as firm, and eventually will lose their shape.
Breast lifting, scientifically known as mastopexy, solves all the problems mentioned above. There are some effects of the breasts that can never be fixed, though a breast lift will generally fix the appearance and shape of the breasts.
In several cases, breast lifting is done hand in hand with surgeries such as breast enlargement, as this makes the surgeons work much easier. Either way, the procedure is quite a successful one in most cases. So, how exactly does breast lifting work?
The procedure of breast lifting is very fast in comparison to most other surgeries. Patients must have a specific diet days prior to having the breast lift done, in order for optimal outcome. Due to anesthetics used during the surgery, patients are not to consume and alcohol and/or drugs prior to the surgery.
During the breast lift, a cut is made around and below the breast in a certain shape. Once this is done, the extra skin from the breast is removed, and the nipple is repositioned so the breast looks normal again. The cuts that were made are then shut, and stitches are usually required around the area of the nipple.
Once the breast lift is complete, patients must wear a special surgical bandage, which is in the form of a bra. This is only required for a couple of days. Patients may also notice that their breasts feel uncomfortable preceding the breast lift, but medication can be prescribed by a doctor that will help you overcome the side effects.
A few days after using the surgical bandage bra, it will be replaced with a more comfortable bra to support your breasts. It is required that patients wear this until they are told they do not need to by a doctor or surgeon.
Most of the stitches applied to a patient are removed within a few weeks at the most. Patients may also have a numb feeling in their breasts, but this is temporary and will go away after a while. Doctors and surgeons recommend staying away from heavy duty activities until months after the breast lift, for safety precautions.
